Jaipur: Four schoolchildren sustained minor injuries after a private school bus carrying students overturned near Khejrawas in the Jobner area of Jaipur Rural Friday. Police said all the injured children were taken to hospital, treated and later discharged.Jaipur Rural SP Hanuman Prasad Meena said the accident occurred after the bus reportedly developed a steering malfunction, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.“Four schoolchildren sustained minor injuries in the incident and were later discharged from the hospital,” Meena said.He said preliminary information suggested that the steering had locked, leading to the accident. Police have initiated an inquiry to ascertain the exact cause of the mechanical failure and whether any negligence was involved.After receiving information about the accident, the police control room dispatched ambulances to the spot. Police personnel rushed the injured children to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Jobner, where they received first aid before being discharged.The accident triggered panic in the area as the bus overturned on the roadside. Local residents and passers-by rushed to the scene and helped rescue the children trapped inside before emergency services arrived.Some of the injured children alleged that the bus was being driven at high speed. They told the media that they were seated towards the rear of the bus when it suddenly lost balance and overturned. Police said these claims would be verified as part of the investigation.The incident also prompted anxious parents to rush to the hospital after learning about the accident. Many gathered at the CHC to check on their children before taking them home after treatment.Police said the bus has been removed from the spot and will undergo a detailed mechanical inspection to determine whether the steering failure caused the crash. Further investigation is underway.
