Jaipur: City police arrested a 35-year-old man Wednesday for allegedly snatching a 25-year-old woman’s gold chain inside Central Park a day earlier. The accused was tracked through CCTV footage and arrested within 24 hours of the incident, police said.Ashok Nagar station house officer Moti Lal Sharma identified the accused as Yogesh Saini, a resident of Bhojpura Kacchi Basti near Sahkar Marg. Police said Saini has three previous cases of chain-snatching and theft registered against him. The stolen gold chain was recovered from his possession.According to police, the incident took place Tuesday when the woman, a resident of Vidhyadhar Nagar, went to Central Park for a morning walk. Around 10.30am, the accused, dressed in black, wearing a cap and covering his face with a bandana, entered the park looking for a target.“After spotting the woman walking alone, the accused snatched her gold chain and fled,” an officer said. The victim immediately alerted Ashok Nagar police, following which an FIR was registered.Police examined CCTV footage from inside and around the park and spotted the suspect running out through one of the exits. Teams tracked his movements through successive cameras and traced his route to Sahkar Marg.Investigators also checked records of habitual offenders in the area and found that the suspect’s appearance and modus operandi matched those of Yogesh Saini. He was subsequently arrested, police said.Following the incident, police have intensified patrols at all entry and exit gates of Central Park, in coordination with nearby police stations, to prevent similar offences.
