Six discharged, three remain admitted after FTI slab collapse

Jaipur: Six of the 11 workers injured in Monday’s slab collapse at the Centre of Excellence building inside the Forestry Training Institute (FTI) on JLN Marg were discharged from SMS Hospital Tuesday. Three workers remain admitted to the Neurosurgery Ward with head and spinal injuries, while two others were discharged after receiving first aid Monday. The workers were rushed to the Trauma Centre at SMS Hospital after the first-floor slab of the under-construction building collapsed. Deputy Medical Officer at SMS Hospital, Dr Pradeep Sharma, said, “The three workers who remain admitted sustained serious injuries and were shifted to the Neurosurgery Ward after evaluation. They are being treated for head and spine injuries and are under close medical observation. Their condition is stable, but they continue to require specialised care.”He said all 11 workers were initially treated under the hospital’s mass casualty protocol as they had been trapped beneath concrete and cement debris, raising concerns about multiple injuries. “Following detailed medical examinations, three patients were found to have neurosurgical injuries and were shifted to the specialised ward. The remaining six responded well to treatment and were discharged Tuesday,” Dr Sharma added.
