Sriganganagar Police seized about 10 kg of heroin valued at around Rs 50 crore

Jaisalmer: Sriganganagar Police, under SP Harishankar Yadav, late Friday night busted a cross-border narcotics network and seized about 10 kg of heroin valued at around ₹50 crore. The heroin was allegedly dropped by a drone from across the border. Five suspected smugglers from Punjab have been detained.Police said the consignment was being moved from the border area toward Punjab when the suspects were intercepted. During the operation, the suspects allegedly tried to flee, leading to a chase and a collision in which their vehicle rammed a police vehicle before two of them were caught near a culvert in Chak 5-GB under the Jaitsar police station area.Preliminary interrogation indicated the heroin had been dropped via drone in the Sameja Kothi police station area, after which search operations and raids were launched in Sameja Kothi, Shrivijaynagar, and Anupgarh. Three additional suspects were detained from different locations, taking the total to five, and seizure proceedings are underway.ASP Deepak Sharma and CI Subhash Dhillon are leading the follow-up action, with teams from Suratgarh, Jaitsar, and Sameja Kothi involved. Checkpoints and road blockades have been established across the district, and police are also pursuing alleged local facilitators in the Sameja Kothi area.
