Alwar: A forest employee was injured in a sudden encounter with a tigress while conducting routine tracking in the Reejhauni forest block of the Sarmathura area in Dholpur Friday morning. The employee, identified as Rajveer Meena, was attacked by the tigress T-117 during the inspection of camera traps, forest officials said.Rajveer and his companion, Sonu Meena, were engaged in regular tiger monitoring when the incident occurred. The tigress, lurking nearby, launched a sudden attack on Rajveer, resulting in injuries to his hands and legs. Following the altercation, the tigress retreated into the forest.As reports of the attack emerged, other tracking teams were placed on high alert to ensure the safety of forest personnel in the area. Regional Forest Officer (RFO) Devendra Singh Chaudhary reached the scene to oversee the situation.Rajveer was first treated at Sarmathura Hospital, where he received initial medical attention before being transferred to Dholpur for further care. RFO Chaudhary said that Rajveer’s condition was stable and that he was not in danger. “He has not sustained any severe injuries, but as a precaution, he remains under medical supervision with specialist doctors,” the RFO said.The incident raised concerns about human-wildlife interactions in the Dholpur Karauli Tiger Reserve, prompting forest officials to review safety protocols for staff involved in fieldwork.
