Jaipur: Employees of Jaipur City Transport Services Ltd (JCTSL), which operates the low-floor bus service, will begin a sit-in protest Friday at Shaheed Smarak, demanding action on long-pending service and operational issues.Key demands of the employees include implementation of the Gratuity Act, deposit of pending NPS/GPF arrears that employees say remain unpaid despite govt funds being released, payment for overtime, recruitment to fill vacant posts, procurement of new buses, issuance of a seniority list, and repair of dilapidated buses to improve safety and reliability. On Friday, Manish Shrimali and Narendra Gochar will begin an indefinite hunger strike if no positive decision is taken. The employee union has also demanded removal of conductors allegedly posted on clerical office duties for more than a decade, and action against depot managers accused of ignoring directions from higher authorities.Earlier on April 16, employees staged a protest on the same demands outside JCTSL headquarters, but the protest is now being escalated as employees allege that management failed to initiate talks.
