Udaipur: A youth died and his friend was injured after a car fell into a 12-feet-deep pit late Tuesday night near Hanumanji Temple turn in Khelgaon under Sukher police station area.Sukher station house officer Bharat Yogi identified the deceased as Himanshu Salvi, a resident of Bohra Ganeshji, who ran a salon. The injured, Rahul Singh, has been admitted to GBH Hospital.Police said the accident occurred around 11pm when the duo was returning home. The car reportedly lost balance while negotiating the turn and plunged into the pit. Salvi died on the spot.This is the second fatality at the same spot in the past 14 days. Earlier, a youth sustained critical injuries after his bike fell into the pit and later succumbed during treatment. Several accidents have been reported at the turn.Locals said they had repeatedly complained to Udaipur Development Authority (UDA), demanding barricading on both sides of the turn and installation of warning signboards, but no action was taken. Residents said while people living nearby are aware of the dangerous turn, it often proves fatal for outsiders, especially at night.Police said the car was allegedly at high speed. On losing control, the driver’s neck hit the car door. The body was shifted to the mortuary of MB Hospital.
