Sikar: A leopard caused scare in Ringus town Thursday after it entered a residential area, attacking a 65-year-old woman. The incident took place around 10am when Aachi Devi, wife of Shimbhu Dayal Dambiwal, was moving from her bathroom to her room and was suddenly attacked by the feline. She suffered severe injuries and has been hospitalised for treatment.Following the attack, the leopard fled into a nearby 10-bigha field known as ‘Samota’s Nohra’. The local administration quickly cordoned off the area, urging residents to stay indoors. Sub-divisional officer Brijesh Kumar, forest department ACF Shravan Bajiya, and police personnel arrived on site to manage the situation. A special forest team was dispatched from Jaipur with tranquilising equipment, but efforts to capture the leopard faced challenges as it frequently hid in the bushes. After a five-hour search, during which earthmoving machines helped clear access paths, the leopard was finally subdued and captured safely in a cage around 5pm. Forest officials confirmed that the leopard will be relocated to the hilly regions of Neem Ka Thana-Patan in accordance with directives from senior authorities. Locals expressed relief and gratitude to the forest and administrative teams for their swift action, which ended nearly seven hours of fear in the community. MLA Subhash Meel was also present at the scene, overseeing the rescue operations closely.
