Jaipur: Rain and hail triggered by western disturbances swept across Rajasthan Wednesday, dropping temperatures and briefly reviving the winter chill. Naraina, near Jaipur, recorded 27mm rainfall— the highest in the state—while Jaipur city received 1.2mm amid scattered showers. The spell affected districts across Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer and Kota divisions, leading to a dip of nearly 6°C in both maximum and minimum temperatures. In Jaipur, rain began around 4am and continued intermittently through the morning. In the evening, some localities saw a brief hailstorm with lightning and gusty winds. Videos of hailstones falling in residential areas were widely shared on social media.
The rain also exposed infrastructure lapses at SMS Trauma Centre, where water flooded the waiting ward near the operation theatres. The incident occurred around 2pm when water began dripping from the false ceiling near the second-floor OT complex; within minutes, the leakage intensified and water accumulated across the ward floor.Jaipur recorded a minimum temperature of 17.7°C and a maximum of 22°C. Districts including Kota, Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Churu and Alwar reported rain, strong winds and chickpea-sized hailstones, causing a 3–4°C fall in daytime temperatures. tnn
