3 held in 23L scholarship,fake ID scam

Jaipur: Three men, including an e-mitra operator and a contractual employee of the department of social justice and empowerment, were arrested Thursday for allegedly siphoning off over Rs 23 lakh in scholarship funds by creating a fake educational institution on the state portal.Jaipur Rural SP Anand Sharma said Vijay Bochlya (27), an e-mitra operator, Shravan Ram Jat (32), director of an ITI college in Nagaur, and Balram Gurjar (43), a contract-based project manager with the social justice department, used their e-mitra kiosk ID to submit fake applications, clone biometric identities and upload forged documents, verify fraud applications and accept bribes to push approvals through internal channels. The fraud came to light when the department flagged suspicious activity on the state’s scholarship portal. TNN
