Udaipur: Two people were killed and three others injured after a speeding truck rammed a car from behind near Malwa Chauraha on the Gogunda-Pindwara National Highway Tuesday morning.The deceased were identified as Daya Bhatt (55) and Pushpraj (32), who were travelling in the car. A 10-year-old child and the truck driver sustained serious injuries. The situation worsened when a speeding trailer coming from behind the truck lost control and overturned, leaving its driver critically injured.The accident triggered chaos at the spot and led to a traffic jam on the highway.On receiving information, the highway patrolling team and personnel from Bekariya police station reached the scene and rushed the injured to MB Hospital. The bodies of the victims, trapped inside the car, were extricated and sent to the mortuary at Malwa Chauraha Hospital.Bekariya station house officer Uttam Singh Medatiya said the deceased were car occupants, while the child was undergoing treatment at the hospital. The family, residents of Jodhpur, was travelling from Udaipur to Jodhpur via Pindwara.He added that the truck and trailer drivers were also injured and admitted to hospital. Traffic was restored after the damaged vehicles were removed with the help of a crane. The victims’ families have been informed.
