198kg sandalwood seized in Chittorgarh

Bhilwara: The police Sunday seized 198 kilogram of sandalwood from a house during raid at Kalandar Kheda village in Chittorgarh district. The police registered a case and began searching for the suspect. Chittorgarh SP Sudhir Joshi said that the District Special Team (DST) received a tip-off about illegal sandalwood in a suspicious house in Kalandar Kheda village, Nikumbh police station area. Under the supervision of Chittorgarh ASP Sarita Singh, a joint team of Nikumbh station officer Ram Singh and DST was formed. The team raided the house of Salim who was living there on rent. During the raid, the police found wet illegal sandalwood packed in small pieces in cartons and stuffed in plastic bags. The police seized five bags containing 198 kilograms and 300 grams of illegal sandalwood, he said. tnn
