Tributes paid to the mortal remains of Jigyanshu at SDMH Hospital Thursday

Jaipur: A 19-year-old Army aspirant from Jhunjhunu gave a new lease of life to several patients after his family agreed to donate his organs following his death in a road accident.Jigyanshu, a resident of Rasoolpur Aheeran village in Jhunjhunu district, was declared brain-dead at Santokba Durlabji Memorial Hospital (SDMH) in Jaipur, Wednesday after suffering severe head injuries in the accident. His family consented to organ donation despite their grief.Early Thursday morning, Jaipur traffic was cleared for a green corridor to transport his liver from SDMH to AIIMS Jodhpur for transplant. A cadaver kidney transplant was also carried out at SDMH.The son of farmer Dalip Singh, Jigyanshu had passed Class 12 last year and was preparing to join the Indian Army. According to family members, he dreamt of serving the country in uniform.The accident took place on the night of May 23 near the Pacheribadi area when he was riding his motorcycle to withdraw cash from an ATM. He was initially admitted to a hospital in Narnaul and later shifted to Jaipur after his condition turned critical. Doctors at SDMH continued treatment but could not save him.Hospital officials said the family agreed to organ donation after counselling by the medical team. Teams from SDMH, National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO), Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (ROTTO) North, AIIMS Jodhpur and SMS Medical College coordinated overnight to complete the organ retrieval and transplant process.
