KOTA: A 17-year-old boy was fatally hit by a train in Rajasthan’s Kota district on Wednesday evening, shortly after learning his Class 10 board exam results. The victim, identified as Dushyant Sahu, a resident of Vigyan Nagar in Kota city, died near the Sanjay Nagar railway crossing under Udhyog Nagar police station limits. According to Circle Inspector Jitendra Singh, the incident occurred around 6pm. The teenager was allegedly trying to cross the railway tracks when he was struck by a moving train. His body was found near the tracks and sent for post-mortem. Police are investigating whether the death was an accident or suicide. Dushyant had reportedly been upset over his exam results, which were announced just hours earlier and fell below his expectations. “He had parked his motorcycle near the railway line and may have been attempting to cross it when the incident occurred,” Inspector Singh said, noting that locals frequently take this route to avoid a long detour. The boy had been working part-time at a bakery during his summer vacation. On the day of the incident, his employer had sent him out to the market on a motorbike. While initial findings suggest the possibility of an accident, police are not ruling out suicide and have registered a case under section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) for further investigation. The body was handed over to the family on Thursday after post-mortem. Police say the exact cause of death will be confirmed following the full medical report and completion of the investigation.
