Youth shot thrice by neighbours over police tip-off, accused on the run

Kota: A 34-year-old man was shot thrice after being lured out of his home by his neighbours in Kaithunipol police station area here Monday morning. The accused allegedly attacked the youth over a grudge for providing a tip-off about a criminal gang to the police; however, the police are investigating the motive. Meanwhile, none of the accused has been traced so far.The victim, identified as Abdul Naeem (34), a resident of Surajpol under Kaithunipole police station, was injured in his stomach and thigh and rushed to MBS Hospital, where he is being treated. According to Kaithunipol SHO Amresh, preliminary investigation revealed that the attackers and the victim are neighbours. Naeem was allegedly called out by three brothers — Saddam, Shahnawaz and Sharif, residents of Surajpol — on the pretext of a meeting. The victim’s brother, Rahim, said that Naeem was at home when Sharif, who lives in the neighbourhood and is his friend, called him and asked him to meet. Naeem went to the spot on his motorcycle. As soon as he got off the bike, the accused opened fire on him and fled. Naeem, in his statement to the police, claimed that he earlier provided information related to the Adil Mirza gang, which led to enmity with the accused. However, the exact motive behind the firing is yet to be ascertained, SHO Amresh told TOI. The police lodged a case against the identified accused in the matter. The police formed special teams and launched raids at possible hideouts to nab the attackers. “Efforts are on and the accused will be arrested soon,” the SHO said.
