Alwar: Miscreants opened indiscriminate fire on a youth in Mator village of Khairtal district Friday, leaving Virendra Rajput, a resident of Sukhmanehdi, critically injured.Rajput sustained a bullet injury and was rushed to a local hospital. After preliminary treatment, doctors referred him to Alwar due to his critical condition. He is currently undergoing treatment.Kishangarhbas DSP Lal Singh said police received information about the firing and rushed to the spot. “The injured youth was found lying with a gunshot wound, while the main accused Pramod and two accomplices fled,” he said.Police have set up barricades across the district and launched checks on suspicious vehicles to nab the accused. Senior officers also reached the spot, collected evidence and began scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas.Preliminary investigation suggests both parties have a criminal background. Police are probing whether the incident stems from old enmity, a financial dispute or a gang rivalry.Officials said the exact motive is yet to be ascertained. The statement of the injured youth, once he regains consciousness, is expected to be important in investigation.
