Jaipur: Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma Sunday said the state govt will provide Rs 150 per quintal bonus on wheat procurement over the Minimum Support Price (MSP), a move welcomed by farmers during an interaction with him in Hanumangarh. Sharma was in the district to attend a state-level programme organised on the occasion of International Women’s Day. After the event, he held discussions with farmers from Sriganganagar and Hanumangarh on issues related to irrigation, canal systems, electricity supply and agriculture schemes. He said the govt was working to strengthen irrigation facilities and resolve water-related issues with neighbouring states. “Large-scale projects are being implemented to develop water resources. These efforts will ensure that farmers in Hanumangarh and Sriganganagar receive more irrigation water in the future,” he said.Highlighting welfare measures for farmers, Sharma said the govt was providing a Rs 5 per litre subsidy to milk producers, interest-free short-term crop loans worth Rs 50,000 crore, and subsidies on agricultural equipment. “Along with the Rs 6,000 given by the Centre under the Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, the state govt is also providing an additional Rs 3,000 to farmers,” he said.He also assured farmers that transparency would be maintained in the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and that adequate fertiliser stocks were available across the state. Earlier, at the state-level International Women’s Day programme in Hanumangarh, the CM’s security arrangements were handled entirely by women police personnel.
