Wife, lover arrested for killing farmer in Bhilwara

Bhilwara: Bhilwara police Friday claimed to have cracked a blind murder case within two days by arresting the victim’s wife and her alleged lover for conspiring to kill him in the Kareda police station area of the district.Police arrested 30-year-old Lakshmi Devi and 35-year-old Gopal Kumawat for murdering Lakshmi Devi’s husband, 37-year-old Jagdish Chandra Kumawat. The accused allegedly strangled Jagdish, whom they considered an obstacle to their illicit relationship. Both are being interrogated, police said.The case came to light after Mangi Lal, father of the deceased, lodged a report at Kareda police station on Dec 24. He said that Jagdish had gone to the fields on the evening of Dec 23 to guard crops but did not return home. His mobile phone was switched off. The next morning, Jagdish’s motorcycle was found abandoned near a road, and his body was later recovered from bushes near a well behind a pond.The body was sent to Kareda Community Health Centre for post-mortem, and a case was registered under Section 103(1).Bhilwara SP Dharmendra Singh confirmed the murder was committed by strangulation.
