JAIPUR: A 27-year-old widow allegedly poisoned herself and her three young daughters in Deeg late Sunday night, a month after losing her husband, police said. While the woman later died while undergoing treatment at a Jaipur hospital Monday, her three daughters, aged two, four and seven years, are now reported to be out of danger.Police identified the deceased widow as Madhubai , whose now-orphaned children are receiving treatment at a govt hospital in Bharatpur. The incident was discovered by a relative, who entered the family room Sunday night after hearing sounds of distress. He suspected poisoning upon finding all four members of the family foaming at their mouths, and rushed them to a local hospital.Investigators suspect her actions are likely to have stemmed from severe emotional distress following the death of her husband last month. Nihal Singh, who worked as a labourer, passed away due to health complications on Nov 29, leaving the single mother without a steady income, police said.Deeg additional superintendent of police, Akhilesh Sharma, said Madhubai had been struggling financially since her husband’s demise. “We hope to gather all relevant details to understand what led her to this act,” he added.
