Bhilwara: Following orders from the irrigation department to store water in the Isarda dam from July 30, 0.6 RL water was retained in the newly built reservoir for the first time Wednesday.TOI reported on July 23 that Isarda dam was almost ready to retain excess water released by Bisalpur dam but was awaiting govt orders to do so. This prompted the state govt to issue the order on July 25 to store water for the first time in Isarda Dam. Again, TOI was the first to report on July 28 that orders have been issued and Isarda would begin retaining water from July 30 onwards.Executive engineer of the Isarda dam project, Vikas Garg, said that water was being released daily from the Bisalpur dam into the Banas River. “The process of retaining water at Isarda dam began at 10am Wednesday. Due to high water flow from the Bisalpur dam, 0.6 RL water was retained in the Isarda dam within a short time. This monsoon season, 3.27 TMC of water will be taken into the Isarda dam by Sept 15. After retaining 0.6 RL water each day, the excess water will continue to be released into the Banas River,” he said. There are plans to channel water from this dam to Jaipur’s Ramgarh dam in the future. The dam is important for the ERCP project.
