Villagers beat man to death over theft suspicion

Bhilwara: A man died after villagers attacked a group of men on suspicion of theft in the Bhopalsagar police station area of Chittorgarh district Thursday.The deceased has been identified as Sanjesh Kanjar (35).According to the police, Kanjar was among the four men who had gone hunting in the jungles of Ramakheda village with his maternal uncle Kailash, uncle Jagdish and cousin Sattu Wednesday night. While returning on motorcycles, they were stopped by villagers and assaulted with sticks and batons on suspicion of theft without verification.Sanjesh suffered serious injuries and was taken to Bhopalsagar hospital, where he died during treatment. Jagdish and Sattu Kanjar were referred to Chittorgarh and later Udaipur for treatment.Chittorgarh SP Manish Tripathi said a case has been registered on the complaint of the victim’s family. “As the accused are yet to be identified, police are relying on technical evidence to trace those present at the spot. FSL and MOB teams were also called to inspect the spot, and multiple teams have been formed to arrest the accused.
