Udaipur family mourns Char Dham tragedy

Udaipur: A spiritual journey ended in heartbreak for the Soni family of Udaipur and Gogunda, as several of their members were either injured or remain missing following a bus accident in Uttarakhand Thursday. The family members were on a Char Dham yatra when their minibus plunged nearly 300 metres into the Alaknanda River near Gholtir in Rudraprayag district around 7:30am.Three family members—Lalit Kumar Soni, 48, from Pratap Chowk in Gogunda, Sanjay Soni, 55, and Sushila Soni, 77, both from Shastri Circle in Udaipur—are still missing. Another Udaipur resident, Ravi Bhavsar, 28, is also unaccounted for.Those injured from Udaipur include Deepika Soni, 42, and Hemlata Soni, 28, residents of Gogunda. Both women were seriously hurt and were airlifted to AIIMS Rishikesh along with Ishwar Soni from Gujarat and the driver, Sumit Kumar.Kundan Soni, a relative of Lalit Soni who lives in Udaipur, said that about ten days ago, Sanjay Soni and his family left for the Char Dham yatra. The group included his wife Chetna, his mother, his sisters Bhavna and Hemlata, Lalit Soni, and other family members. After completing the Kedarnath leg of the journey, they were on their way to Badrinath when the accident occurred.
