Two of Bambiha gang held in Hanumangarh with 11 pistols

Jaipur: Hanumangarh district police Sunday arrested two alleged members of the notorious Bambiha gang and recovered 11 pistols and 22 magazines from their possession, officials said.Inspector general of police, Bikaner Range, Omprakash said the action was taken as part of a special campaign launched by the Rajasthan Police Headquarters against organised crime and gangsters.Acting on specific information that illegal weapons were being transported from Indore towards Punjab and were to be supplied by road on Sunday, police set up a blockade, officials said.During checking, a bus was stopped and two youths alighted and attempted to move towards the embankment of the main canal. They were chased and searched, and 11 pistols and 22 magazines were recovered from their bags, police said.The accused were identified as Amandeep Singh alias Captain (30) and Pawandeep Singh alias Bila alias Sunny (25), residents of Bargadi in Faridkot district.Police said the two are active members of the Bambiha group and previous cases were registered against them, including under the Arms Act and for assault and organised crime. A case was registered under the Arms Act and further interrogation is under way to ascertain involvement of associates and the source and supply of the weapons, officials added.
