KOTA: Two girl students were killed on the spot, while five others were injured in a collision between a school van and a Bolero near Itawa town, around 80 kilometres from Kota district headquarters, on Saturday morning. The five critically injured students were referred to the New Medical College Hospital in Kota.Confirming the deaths and injuries, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Itawa) Shivam Joshi said the mishap occurred between 7.30am and 8.00am.A private school van, carrying around 10–12 students from Gaita village to a private school in Itawa, lost balance near the town and collided with an SUV coming from Sheopur (Madhya Pradesh) towards Bundi. The impact was so severe that both vehicles overturned, he added.Joshi said the deceased students were identified as 15-year-old Tanu Dhakad, a Class 10 student, and 8-year-old Parul Arya, a Class 4 student. Among the injured, five children are in critical condition and have been referred from Itawa to Kota. The van driver and one person travelling in the Bolero jeep were also injured and admitted to Itawa hospital. After the crash, the Bolero driver fled the scene.Upon learning of the accident, local MLA Chetan Patel rushed to the Itawa hospital, met the injured, and consoled the bereaved families.
