Bhilwara: Tonk SP Rajesh Kumar Meena Wednesday suspended five policemen from Aligarh and Sop stations after videos and audios indicating their collusion in illegal mining of gravel (bajri) went viral on social media. The suspensions followed recent action by the state’s DGP, who suspended SHOs of Peeplu and Barauni police stations in Tonk after their role was found suspicious in decoy operations conducted at several places regarding the black market in gravel.Meena issued two separate orders and suspended ASI Prahlad Narayan and Constable Sabulal of Sop police station under Uniyara circle, and Head Constable Satyaprakash, Driver Constable Omprakash Yadav and Constable Rajendra of Aligarh police station. In the orders, Meena proposed a departmental inquiry against them and directed them to police lines. Two call recordings of Head Constable Satyaprakash, allegedly indicating collusion with the gravel mafia, went viral on social media, and the SP got both recordings investigated. Driver Constable Omprakash was suspended twice earlier over gravel-related matters. Meena said the personnel were suspended for negligence in duty and for not performing duty with the required strictness. A video showing tractor-trolleys loaded with gravel passing outside Sop police station and an audio linked to a suspended police personnel from Aligarh police station had surfaced. Meena said they were not directly suspended due to the video and audio, but the material suggested prima facie negligence.“There is an audio of talking about gravel-related matters on mobile; a police personnel should not have such conversations with anyone. In the video, tractor trolleys loaded with gravel are seen passing outside a police station. Where were the police personnel at that time? All these points are being investigated. Further action will be taken after the investigation is completed,” the SP said.
