Jaipur: The city police Sunday arrested three men accused of attempting to kill a man as part of a contract killing plot in the Sanjay Circle area on June 2. Police said the accused stalked the victim from Amer Road before launching a brutal assault in a narrow lane near Sanjay Circle. Armed with rods, sticks, and metal pipes, the trio beat the man with the intent to kill him. However, the victim managed to escape and alerted the police. He was rushed to a hospital and is now recovering.The arrested accused were identified as Mohammad Afzal (25), Mohammad Junaid (23), and Mohammad Rustam (23). “They accepted money to eliminate the victim. But their attempt failed when the victim fought back and fled,” said a police officer involved in the investigation.According to police, the suspects tried to flee when police teams reached their hideout. In the process, all three sustained injuries—two suffered leg injuries, and one sustained an arm injury. They were provided medical aid before being formally arrested.The deputy commissioner of police (North) said that the attack appeared to be premeditated and carried out with the aim of contract killing. The trio reportedly works as hired attackers and took the assignment to execute the victim over a personal enmity involving a fourth person.Police scanned multiple CCTV cameras and used ground-level informants to trace the attackers. “We are now focusing on identifying the person who hired them and the motive behind the attack,” an officer said.“The case has been registered under sections related to attempt to murder and criminal conspiracy,” the officer added. tnn
