Five young friends from Saipau town in Dholpur district set out on a pilgrimage to the revered Vaishno Devi temple Saturday, only to be caught in a devastating landslide in Jammu Tuesday, leaving their families in a state of grief and despair. The group, consisting of Yash Garg, Pranshu Mittal, Shiv Bansal, Aditya Parmar and Deepak Mittal, encountered a fierce current while navigating Kishanpur Domel Road near Garanai Lota. As they attempted to find a safer path away from falling debris, a sudden rush of water swept them away. While Aditya and Deepak managed to cling to a tree and remain stranded on a small island, Yash, Pranshu and Shiv were lost to the tumultuous waters. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the local police launched a rescue operation, arriving on the scene within two hours to gather information from the two survivors and search for the three missing men. The incident occurred as the five friends were returning home after a pilgrimage. Aiming to catch a train from Katra, they decided to take an alternative route, which ultimately led them into danger.
