Kota: Bhawanimandi police in Jhalawar district busted a cyber fraud racket involving mule bank accounts and arrested three accused on Friday, seizing a large cache of financial instruments and cash.Assistant Sub-Inspector Akheram had received a tip-off about a local, Lalit Rana, operating his bank account as a mule account to facilitate large-scale fraud, SP Amit Kumar said.Investigation confirmed his role along with associates in carrying out fraudulent transactions and earning illegal gains. Police registered a case under various sections of the IT Act. The arrested accused were identified as Lalit Rana (22), Ajay Vishwakarma (25) and Rajesh Rathore (43), all residents of Bhawanimandi. Investigations revealed the trio bought and sold bank accounts and used them to route cyber fraud transactions worth crores. Police recovered 53 ATM cards, 35 cheque books, six passbooks, nine SIM cards, a laptop and Rs 1.54 lakh in cash. DSP Prem Kumar said the accused procured and rented bank accounts to channel illegal funds. Further probe is underway to trace wider links.
