Jaipur: Dimple Kanwar, Tanika Sharma, Rochelle Yadav and Asha Srivastava will be the recipients of this year’s prestigious Sunder Kanti Joshi (SKJ) state women cricket awards.All-rounder Dimple Kanwar has been selected in the senior category for her outstanding performance in the just concluded BCCI domestic season.Tanika Sharma will receive the honour in the junior group, while Rochelle Yadav has been chosen in the sub-junior section.Former cricketer Asha Srivastava-Dutta, who represented Rajasthan in the 1970s, will bag the ‘lifetime achievement award’.The selection committee headed by former Ranji cricketer Yogesh Mathur announced the awards during a press conference here on Saturday.Bharti Verma, Devendra Pal Singh, Gangotri Chauhan and Poonam Yadav were the members in the committee.After the selection process, Radha Niwas Cricket Club secretary Sharad Joshi informed that the award ceremony will be held on April 3, on the birth anniversary of Sundar Kanti Joshi.Club president Vipin Joshi said that the prize money has also been increased this year. The winner of the senior category will be given a cash prize of Rs 21,000, the junior Rs 15,000 and the sub-junior Rs 11,000.According to selection panel chairman Yogesh Mathur, the senior category award was a closely contested event, with Dimple Kanwar emerging victorious, surpassing players like Sonal Kalal, Sangeeta Kumawat, Chandra Jyotsna Bhati, and Sumitra Jat.Dimple performed exceptionally well in BCCI national competitions, scoring 430 runs, claiming six wickets, and taking 16 catches.In the junior category, Tanika Sharma impressed the selectors by scoring 235 runs and taking 9 wickets, while in the sub-junior section, Rochelle Yadav strengthened her claim by scoring 172 runs and taking 9 wickets.These players have received honours so farAccording to club treasurer Ashok Joshi, the SKJ Award was launched in 2019-20. In the senior category, Ayushi Garg, Priyanka Sharma, Sonal Kalal, Suman Meena, Jyoti Chaudhary, and Kaushalya Chaudhary have received this honour. In the junior category, Simran Chaudhary, Anaya Garg, Siddhi Sharma, and Maina Seoul, while in the sub-junior category, Pearl Banawat, Vrinda Sharma, and Dhriti Mathur have received this award.
