Jaipur: Wrapping up electioneering for the Anta bypolls scheduled on Nov 11, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and former CM Vasundhara Raje on Sunday held a massive roadshow in support of party candidate Suman Morpal. This was Sharma’s second roadshow in Anta within a week — a clear indication that the bypoll has become both a test of his popularity and a judgment on his govt’s performance, just ahead of its second anniversary in December.Raje, in her address, highlighted several key development demands for the constituency and sought on-the-spot commitments from the CM. “I would like to ask CM Bhajan Lal Sharma that the bus stand and the sabzi mandi in Anta should be completed soon to ease local traffic and public inconvenience,” she said. Sharma immediately nodded in agreement. Raje’s public style of securing promises from the CM on behalf of Anta residents was widely appreciated and quickly went viral on social media, with several clips from the roadshow circulating as reels. Alongside Raje and the CM, Jhalawar-Baran MP Dushyant Singh also participated in the event. “We understood your desire for a local candidate, which is why we fielded Suman Morpal. Now, it’s your turn to play your part,” Sharma told the crowd.Singh described Morpal as “a brother of every household in Anta” and assured that all development works possible through his MP funds would be channelled via Morpal. Party leaders were quick to highlight Morpal’s clean record compared to rivals, including Congress candidate Pramod Jain Bhaya and Independent Naresh Meena. This bypoll marks the first time Vasundhara Raje campaigned intensively for a BJP candidate other than her son, MP Dushyant Singh. Her deep involvement signals a clear intent to reinforce her political influence in her home turf of Jhalawar-Baran. Party insiders view the contest as a test of Raje’s regional clout. “BJP candidate Suman Morpal is essentially Raje’s representative on the ground — victory or defeat will directly reflect her influence,” said a senior party functionary. On Saturday, Raje achieved a significant breakthrough by persuading the Svanakar community — which earlier announced a poll boycott — to withdraw its decision after assuring them that their long-pending demands would be fulfilled.
