Jaipur: City police Friday rescued a youth abducted for ransom and arrested three men while detaining a minor in connection with the case. The operation, led by Vidhyadhar Nagar police, resulted in the victim’s safe recovery within 12 hours of the complaint being filed.SHO Rakesh Khyaliya said the accused were identified as Vikram Yadav (21) of Chandwaji, Suresh Kumar (25) of Jamwaramgarh, and Monu Jangid (26) of Daultpura. A minor was also taken into custody. The vehicle used in the crime—an SUV—was seized. The incident came to light when the victim’s cousin approached the police on Friday, reporting that the abducted youth, a student at Amity University, called him around 10.30 pm on Thursday. During the call, he said that Ashish, Nitin Gajraj, and several others forcibly took him from outside Sun Moon Tower, bundled him into two vehicles, and were assaulting him while driving around the city. The accused demanded a ransom of Rs 2 lakh over the phone, threatening to kill the victim if the money was not paid. The family transferred a partial amount after being informed of the abduction.Acting swiftly, the police registered a case and formed multiple teams. More than 250 CCTV footages were examined, and a detailed route map was created to track the movement of the suspects. With the help of technical surveillance, police traced the victim’s mobile phone to a rural area on the outskirts of Jaipur. As the location remained unchanged for some time, a team was dispatched to the spot and found the accused attempting to flee with the victim in their SUV. A high-speed chase ensued over 30 kilometres, followed by a 4–5 kilometre foot pursuit, which ended in the arrest of the accused and the victim’s safe rescue. Preliminary investigation suggests that the accused had no prior connection with the victim and abducted him purely for monetary extortion. Further probe is underway to trace other accomplices.
