Jaipur: A single judge bench of Rajasthan High Court directed Additional Director General of Police, SOG and ATS, VK Singh, to appear before it on Tuesday and apprise it about details of investigations and surprise tests conducted on candidates who cracked the SI recruitment exam.Justice Sameer Jain ordered Singh’s appearance in response to petitions of Kailash Chand Sharma and others, who demanded that the SI recruitment 2021 exam be cancelled.Hearing the case for the second consecutive week, Justice Jain said the court wanted to question SOG on the mock test conducted by it for selected candidates during the investigation. During the hearing, senior advocate AK Sharma argued that in the beginning, SIT recommended cancellation of the recruitment suo motu, without consulting others.“Now CM has given his consent to the sub-committee recommendation that says a detailed investigation should continue, and as of now, there is no point in cancelling the exam,” Sharma argued. “SOG took a surprise test of trainee SIs on March 19, 2024, in which only 50 trainee sub-inspectors failed. In such a situation, the recruitment should not be cancelled. Many candidates appeared and cleared the SI exam after leaving other govt jobs,” Sharma contended.Counsel for RPSC, MF Baig, argued that RPSC sent the recommendation for completion of recruitment to the govt on June 30, 2023. “Two months prior to this, on April 18, 2023, then commission member Babulal Katara was arrested. At the same time, former member Ramu Ram Raika said his son and daughter are candidates in SI recruitment. On this, Raika was excluded from the recruitment process,” Baig added.
