Speeding truck runs over RTO inspector during checking in Kota

Kota: A 37-year-old regional transport office (RTO) inspector, Naresh Kumar, was killed on the spot after a speeding truck rammed into his stationary official vehicle on NH-52 near the Gopalpura Mataji toll plaza Saturday evening.
The incident occurred around 7 PM while Kumar was inside the RTO vehicle conducting checks and issuing challans as part of a routine enforcement drive.
According to Mandana police station SHO Ajay Sharma, the truck, coming from Jhalawar side, collided with the parked RTO vehicle, dragging it off the road and crushing the inspector inside.
Other RTO personnel, who were outside the vehicle at the time, narrowly escaped injury. The truck driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle, which has since been seized by police.
The body of Naresh Kumar was shifted to the mortuary for post-mortem, said DSP Rajesh Dhaka.
Police are searching for the absconding driver and are examining CCTV footage from the toll plaza and nearby areas to trace his movements.
