Speeding bus kills 2 Guj men, catches fire

Jodhpur: A speeding private bus ran over two brothers riding a motorcycle, killing them on the spot in Sanchore on Tuesday morning. After the accident, the bus dragged the motorcycle for about 100 meters and caught fire after colliding with the iron safety railing along the highway.ASP (Sanchore) Anwad Dan Ratnoo said the private bus was travelling from Chauhatan in Barmer to Palanpur in Gujarat. Most of the passengers were patients who regularly go to Gujarat for medical treatment. “The bus collided with a motorcycle near the boundary of Ranodar village on NH 68 at about 8.15am. Two motorcycle-borne persons, identified as Sandeep Bhai (23) and his cousin Ranjeet Bhai (23), both from Anand (Gujarat), were crushed under the bus and died on the spot,” said Ratnoo.Both cousins were engaged in welding work and were on their way to visit the Ramdevra temple. The bus dragged the motorcycle, stuck in its wheels, for about 100 meters before coming to a halt after hitting the iron safety railing along the highway. Ratnoo said that it is not yet known how many people were on board the bus. By the time the police arrived at the scene, everyone had already left, and the driver had fled. “Information will be gathered by contacting the bus owner,” said the officer.Traffic on the highway was blocked for about two hours.
