Jaipur: Following Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma’s instructions, the urban development department, to ensure the prevention of road accidents and road safety, directed all urban bodies to complete ongoing and new works by running a special campaign by December 30.The state govt stated that road renovation, footpath and divider repair and maintenance, cleanliness, and traffic signage work would be completed at a rapid pace in every urban area.As per the directions, unauthorised road cuts will be immediately closed by running special campaigns in all urban bodies, and unnecessary bushes around road junctions will be removed. Similarly, slip lane construction as required at road junctions; retroreflective boards will be installed at starting points and curves of flyovers, overbridges, underpasses, etc., for no parking of vehicles or other activities.Zebra crossing, thermoplastic paint, and road divider painting work will be done regularly. Also, directions have been given to complete all road renovation works in urban areas by March 31, 2026.Additionally, urban bodies will display information about responsible officers and contractors at construction sites, work cost amount, and time period, so that common people can contact the officer concerned in case of any inconvenience.Repair of damaged ferro covers and manhole covers, and installation of indicative reflective boards will also be done. Similarly, divider and footpath repair works will be done by running special campaigns for public convenience and safety. During this, open drains in body areas will be safely covered, and repair of damaged ferro covers and sewer line manhole covers will also be done on a large scale, so that there is no possibility of any kind of accident. Similarly, strong railing arrangements will also be made on dividers at crowded places.Urban bodies will specifically remove encroachments from footpaths and roads by regularly marking different areas and ensuring proper parking arrangements for commercial vehicles. Also, regular cutting, pruning, and maintenance of hedges, trees, and plants on roadsides and dividers and open electric wires in public places; footpaths and roads will be immediately organised.The urban development department has given instructions to all municipal bodies to mandatorily enter details of proposed work on the CBUD app before excavation work on roads and provisions for imposing penalties on work done without entry on the app. Strict punitive action will be taken by the state govt regarding excavation work done without entry on the CBUD app. Along with this, the responsibility of the engineer in charge and contractor will also be determined to ensure quality in works.
