Jaipur: Southwest monsoon is likely to enter Rajasthan in the next couple of days, the Jaipur Met office said Tuesday. It will enter from the southern part of the state, through Kota and Udaipur divisions, and it has already entered bordering state Madhya Pradesh, the Met office said. If this forecast turns out to be correct, it will be an early arrival of the monsoon this year, as in 2024 the monsoon entered the state on June 27. Heralding the imminent arrival of monsoon, pre-monsoon showers were recorded in 26 districts in the state Tuesday, bringing down temperatures. Sikar received the maximum rainfall at 70mm.Director of the Met office in Jaipur, Radhey Shyam Sharma, said, “Pre-monsoon showers were witnessed at the majority of places in the state. Factors such as higher humidity levels are favourable for the onset of monsoon by Wednesday or Thursday.”Along with respite from heat, rainfall also brought trouble for commuters, as waterlogging was a common sight in almost every part of Jaipur. Heavy waterlogging was seen on Queen’s Road, King’s Road, Ravindra Manch, Ghat Gate, and some parts of Shastri Nagar.
