Jaipur: The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan police Thursday, arrested a man, accused of running a large interstate racket involved in forging educational documents for govt job aspirants.ADG (SOG) VK Singh said the accused, Saurabh Singh (30), a resident of Ganiyar in Mahendragarh district of Haryana, was absconding for nearly a year and carried a reward of Rs 25,000. Singh said the case began when the Indian Postal Department filed a complaint alleging that one Lokesh Yadav, who applied for recruitment, submitted a forged Class 10 marksheet. When the department verified the marksheet with the board, they denied issuing it.A case was registered on May 31, 2024, under multiple IPC sections, and during the investigation, Yadav and two associates — Vikas Kumar Yadav and Hitesh Yadav — were arrested. They revealed that the forged document was obtained from Saurabh, who ran an e-Mitra centre in Rewari, Haryana, for Rs 35,000.Following his arrest, SOG recovered a bag containing a laptop, mobile phone, hard disk, pen drive, and forged certificates and marksheets from various universities and boards. During interrogation, Saurabh admitted to preparing the fake educational documents himself.Preliminary investigation revealed that Saurabh ran a document forgery racket across Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, targeting unemployed youth by promising them govt jobs. He allegedly created marksheets, diplomas, and degree certificates with forged logos, QR codes, official seals, and scanned signatures of educational authorities to make them appear authentic.SOG said Saurabh formed a network of middlemen who contacted job-seekers, collected money, and procured fake documents from him. The seized digital devices contain hundreds of forged certificates, which are now being examined by cyber experts.Saurabh has been remanded in police custody till Oct 17. A detailed investigation into the gang’s operations and financial transactions is underway.
