Jaipur: In response to the increasing number of seasonal disease cases, SMS Hospital is set to establish a dedicated OPD for illnesses such as dengue, scrub typhus, malaria, chikungunya, waterborne diseases, and other seasonal diseases. This initiative aims to alleviate pressure on the regular OPD and ensure that patients with seasonal ailments receive specialised care without disrupting services for other patients.A senior SMS Hospital administration official said, “We started reporting cases of seasonal diseases in our hospital. If there is a sudden rise in the cases, we will establish a separate OPD for such patients for their better care and treatment.” The hospital is concerned about scrub typhus cases. “The mortality rate in scrub typhus is quite high in comparison to any other seasonal disease. We are reporting scrub typhus cases from rural areas of Dausa, Sawai Madhopur, Alwar, and other nearby districts,” he said. The govt hospitals and private clinics are witnessing a rise in cases of cough, sore throat, and cold. However, a doctor at SMS Hospital said that it takes 3 to 5 days to get relief from the symptoms. The doctors have also pointed out that patients should take timely treatment in case of fever and get the diagnosis done for timely treatment of the diseases. TNN
