Six women of a family die in head-on Sikar NH collision

Jhunjhunu: Six women were killed and three others, including the car driver, were seriously injured in a head-on collision between a car and a truck near Harsawa village in the Fatehpur Sadar police station area of Sikar district Wednesday.Sikar additional superintendent of police Tejpal Singh said the accident occurred around 4pm on the Sikar-Bikaner national highway when a car carrying members of the same family from Raghunathpura village in Fatehpur was returning from a condolence meeting in Laxmangarh. All women were travelling in the same car, while men from the family were accompanying in another vehicle, police said.The impact left the car completely mangled, trapping the occupants inside. Police teams from Fatehpur Sadar, Kotwali and Laxmangarh reached the spot and shifted the injured to the Fatehpur sub-district hospital, from where they were referred to SK Hospital in Sikar. One of the injured women is reported to be in critical condition.The deceased were identified as Mohani Devi (80), Indra (60), Asha (60), Chanda (55), Santosh Devi (45) and Tulsi Devi (45). The injured were identified as driver Waseem and two women, Sonu and Barkha. The bodies were kept in the mortuary at Fatehpur hospital.MLA Hakam Ali and other public representatives reached the site and met the bereaved family members. The truck driver was taken into police custody. The Sikar police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
