Kota: Six teenagers lost their lives in the Parvati River in two separate incidents within a span of 24 hours between Sunday and Monday. The incidents occurred in the Khatoli police station area of Kota district and the Atru police station area of Baran district. The first incident took place Sunday noon in Atru police station area of Baran district. Five teenagers were caught in a strong current while bathing under a bridge. While three managed to swim to safety, two others, Vishal (17) and Subhaan Mohammed (13), were swept away and drowned. Despite a swift search operation by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), their bodies were only recovered the following morning and subsequently handed over to their grieving families, police said. The second tragedy struck Monday noon in the Khatoli police station area of Kota district. Four boys, Sonu Suman, Mohit Suman, Ashfaque and Ayush Gurjar, all aged between 16 and 17, drowned after slipping into deep waters near Chuara Dham, a place of worship on the Rajasthan–Madhya Pradesh border. The body of Ayush Gurjar was recovered shortly after the incident but the search for the remaining three continues. Deputy Superintendent of Police Shivam Joshi, who was present at the scene, said that the teens were likely visiting Chuara Dham when they accidentally slipped into the river. The SDRF teams were tirelessly working to locate the missing boys, with hopes of bringing closure to their families. These incidents have cast a pall over the region, highlighting the dangers of the Parvati River, especially during the monsoon season when water levels and currents can be unpredictable. Local authorities have urged residents to exercise caution and avoid venturing into the river, particularly in areas known for strong currents.
