Ajmer: Police Sunday arrested six members of the Meerut gang who stole suitcases and other luggage on buses. Police found that these members took buses mostly at night and tried to sit near passengers who travelled with families.One of them stole items while others tried to divert the attention of family. Police found that many cases were registered against this gang in Rajasthan, including in Jaipur, Behror, Alwar, and other cities. Police are investigating.According to police, Chogaram, a resident of Pali, filed a report on Oct 11, 2025, that nine members of his family had gone to Hyderabad. On Oct 11, they came to Ajmer through a direct train from Hyderabad at 3pm. Later, they took a Gujarat roadways bus to reach Pali from Ajmer. The next day, when they reached their home, they found that the jewellery and ornaments from their bags were missing. On this report, Ajmer police initiated an investigation.Ajmer SP Vandita Rana said that the team started checking CCTV cameras in Ajmer, Beawar, Pali, and also at the Jaipur roadways bus stand and other bus stands in different districts. They found that seven people together boarded roadways buses mostly during the evening. Some members of the gang would divert passengers’ attention by talking to them, while others did their work.
