Jaipur: Not only heritage preservation, Walled City’s Special Area Heritage Plan (SAHP) will cover tourism, maintenance of environment, and disaster management.Officials said the master plan is being drafted across six modules by PD Core, a joint venture of the state govt and IL&FS, in collaboration with universities and heritage preservation groups. “PD Core has submitted one of the modules to the state govt. The remaining five are expected soon. We would compile the SAHP and forward it to Unesco for final approval. We have enough time to implement the SAHP before Unesco publishes its state of conservation (SoC) report for 2026,” stated a senior official from Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC).The official said the six modules cover enforcement laws, disaster management, environment, tourism potential, future transport networks, and a survey and report on the demographic livelihood and housing profile within the Unesco World Heritage site.“Based on the survey and report on the demographic livelihood and housing profile, DRONAH – an organization specializing in conservation architectures – will prepare a Heritage Conservation and Regulation Act. It will also be part of the SAHP,” another official stated.Unesco in its SoC report for 2025 asked the state govt to submit the final SAHP to the World Heritage Centre for review by the Advisory Bodies and provide a detailed implementation strategy and timeline for its execution.On Nov 27, TOI reported that Unesco advised the govt to submit a status report by Dec 1, 2026.
