However, despite searching until late at night, the bodies of the remaining two youths could not be found, and the operation was halted for the night. It resumed again on Thursday.“We recovered the remaining two bodies by the afternoon Thursday,” said an official overseeing the search operation. Four rescue teams carried out operations for 40 hour to recover the bodies. On Thursday, the remaining two bodies were recovered, after which post-mortem examinations were conducted, and the bodies were handed over to their families. He said that these six friends had reached the riverbank Tuesday evening and had entered the river holding each other’s hands. However, after crossing to the other side, they were swept away by the strong current while returning. “Due to continuous rain in the district, the river was overflowing,” he said, adding that the victims might have thought that holding each other in a form of a chain would not pose any threat of drowning.Out of these six friends, four were married. One of them was in govt service, and one was studying, while four others were engaged in agriculture and other work.
