Bhilwara: The Sindhi community took to the streets to protest a controversial statement by Amit Baghel, president of Johar Chhattisgarh Party, in Bhilwara Friday.Several community members had gathered at Suchna Kendra Chowrahe and then marched to the Bhilwara Collectorate with placards and slogans. They burnt an effigy of Baghel and submitted a memorandum to the collector addressed to the President, Prime Minister and chief minister, demanding that a sedition case be filed against Baghel and that his party should be banned.President of Bhilwara Sindhu Sanskar Seva Samiti, Harish Panwani, said that Baghel had made controversial statements about Sindhi, Agarwal and Jain communities, leading to protests across India. He said that Baghel had called the Sindhi community ‘Pakistani,’ which hurt community members nationwide, and had questioned the vehicle (fish) of Lord Jhulelal to benefit his party, causing massive resentment.Protesters recalled that during independence and partition, the Sindhi community had accepted losing their motherland Sindh for the sake of country and religion. They clarified that although today Sindh province is in Pakistan, their hearts and minds still hope for undivided India.
