Violating the rules in the manufacturing and operation of passenger buses is unacceptable,” he stated. The commission highlighted several recurring issues, including the absence of emergency doors in buses, lack of fire-fighting equipment, and the illegal transport of hazardous or flammable materials along with passengers. Moolchandani referred to recent incidents in Rajasthan, including the accident in Jaisalmer, underscoring that such violations continue to cause severe loss of life and property. He suggested the authorities take immediate measures to ensure that buses plying in the state comply with the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and adhere to prescribed safety standards.
