Jaipur: The Jaipur Municipal Corporations Greater and Heritage (JMC) have launched the ‘Sheher Chalo Abhiyan’ to provide citizens with a one-stop platform for grievance redressal by enabling them to directly meet officials from different departments and get issues resolved on the spot. As part of the drive, pre-camps are being organised across zone offices ahead of the main camp beginning on Sept 15 to identify and address people’s problems quickly.However, the ground reality at some zone offices Monday suggested poor preparedness. At the Mansarovar Zone office and the Civil Line Zone office, officials were found scattered across rooms instead of working in a coordinated manner, leaving citizens confused. The aim of the pre-camps is to reduce bureaucratic hurdles and ensure that residents do not have to run from pillar to post. But at Mansarovar, several citizens complained of disorganisation. Anil Solanki, who came to get his land lease work done, said, “I had to roam around two to three rooms because no official was present initially. Only after hearing that the Commissioner was arriving did the officers gather in one place.” Not all feedback was negative. A senior couple who updated their Aadhaar cards expressed satisfaction, noting that the initiative saved them considerable time. JMC-G Commissioner Gaurav Saini, who inspected the Mansarovar pre-camp, reprimanded officials for their lax approach. He stressed that grievances capable of immediate resolution must be handled at the zone level, while pending matters would be taken up in the main camp. He also checked arrangements for drinking water facilities. Saini added that most complaints so far relate to birth and death certificates, marriage certificates, and the chief minister’s Self-Employment Scheme. In the last three days, 89 people visited the Mansarovar Zone pre-camp, including 40 seeking certificates and 32 inquiring about the scheme. Meanwhile, at the Civil Line Zone office, though turnout was high, officials appeared reluctant to engage, passing responsibility among themselves and leaving many grievances unaddressed.
