Jaipur: A serial temple thief and his alleged accomplice were arrested Monday for stealing silver canopies and idol crown from a Ramganj temple, one of the several heists the accused confessed to.DCP (north) Karan Sharma identified the main accused as Santosh alias Rohit alias Chanta, a former parking attendant and drug addict. Police also arrested Sheikh Azizul, a 52-year-old silversmith based at Johari Bazaar who allegedly bought and melted the stolen goods to destroy evidence.The case began with a theft report filed on July 27 by Kanhaiya Lal Sharma, priest of Shri Raghunath Ji’s Temple in Ghat Gate Market, who reported the theft of silver ornaments on July 16. The DCP said Santosh confessed to multiple break-ins, including thefts at Shani Maharaj Temple in Luharon Ka Khurra (8–10 silver canopies and cash), Santoshi Mata Temple near Dhabaiji Ka Khurra (a silver canopy), and donation boxes at Hanuman Temple in Nahargarh and Ganesh Temple at Ghat Gate.
