Safari at Nahargarh closed after vehicle gets stuck with tiger near

Jaipur: The tiger and lion safari at Nahargarh Biological Park has been closed until further notice following an incident in which a tourist vehicle became stuck during a safari and a tiger appeared nearby. The incident occurred on Sunday, Oct 26, when a canter vehicle carrying around 25 tourists, including several children, got trapped in a muddy section of the track. As efforts were made to free the vehicle, a tiger approached and sat on a nearby rock for nearly 30 minutes. The sight left tourists anxious until forest personnel arrived and shifted them safely to another vehicle.A senior forest official said the track became unsafe due to recent rainfall. “Continuous rains have made several stretches of the safari track muddy and uneven. The safari will reopen only after the route is repaired and declared safe for vehicles,” the official said.Following the circulation of a video of the incident on social media, the park authorities conducted a review of safety measures and decided to suspend the safari until further notice. Officials added that maintenance and restoration work will be undertaken to prevent such incidents in the future. One of the tourists later alleged that he was asked by forest staff to delete the video he recorded inside the park. “I captured a short clip showing the vehicle stuck and the tiger nearby. I deleted it after I was asked to do so, but my friend later recovered it. The video shows how close the tiger was when the vehicle couldn’t move,” he said.
