Bhilwara: Niwai police in Tonk district Sunday recovered Rs 53,000 that had been fraudulently withdrawn by cyber criminals and refunded the sum to the complainant’s account.Tonk SP Rajesh Kumar Meena said all police officers had been directed to strengthen cyber crime prevention in the district. Under the supervision of ASP Ratanlal Bhargav, a special team was formed and placed under the leadership of Niwai SHO Ghasiram.On Dec 3, complainant Vijay Shankar Dwivedi appeared at Niwai police station and registered a cyber fraud complaint. In his report, he stated that an unknown person had withdrawn Rs 53,000 from his wife Pooja’s Union Bank account without permission. Police registered a case under the Cyber Act and, after investigation, secured a refund of the full amount.SP Meena appealed to the public: “No one should share OTP when asked by unknown persons and if cyber fraud happens by mistake, immediately complain on toll free number 1930.”
