Ajmer: The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) Friday filed an FIR at the Civil Lines police station against an unidentified individual responsible for disseminating a fraudulent social media post in its name. The post, which falsely claimed to be an official announcement from the RPSC, was shared widely, causing concern and confusion among the public. The incident came to light shortly after the RPSC declared the final results of the RAS-2023 examination on Oct 15. The following day, a counterfeit post surfaced on social media, purporting to be an official statement from RPSC secretary Ramniwas Mehta. The post included a forged signature and falsely suggested it was an official release from the commission. Secretary Mehta, in a statement, emphasised the gravity of the situation, saying, “Such a post, which was posted on behalf of me, is totally fake, and no document or record like this was released by the RPSC.” Mehta further expressed concern over the potential impact of such misinformation on social harmony and the reputation of the RPSC. The FIR highlights the creation of a fake document intended to disturb social peace and defame the RPSC and its officials. The charges include several sections of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sahita (BNS) of 2023, addressing the preparation of fake documents, intentional fraud and defamation of a govt official. The city police have assigned Assistant Sub-Inspector Chand Singh to lead the investigation. Authorities are working diligently to trace the origin of the post and identify the individuals responsible for this act of forgery and misinformation.
